The VU Screening Room

All active media subscribers may attend our private events, generally occurring every Friday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m., free of charge as a perk and privilege of subscription. These events are limited to *only* active subscribers and their guests (determined by their subscription level), and are not open to the general public. Active media subscribers who don’t have titles checked out are still eligible for screenings. Screening schedules will be made available to active media subscribers upon request, but are not publicly posted. 


All events require a primary booker who will be the main person of contact for the event.

To inquire about booking the screening room, please email All booking details (including dates, times, title availability, etc.) will be exchanged and confirmed via email even if initial contact is made in person or over the phone.

The screening room is available for booking during the following time slots regardless of the event duration:
– Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
– Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m.
– Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m.
– Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m.
– Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 to 5 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m.

Events begin when the booker takes possession of the event space and conclude when the space is clear of attendees.

Deposits for events and payments for special order items (off menu food/drink, title acquisition, etc.) have to be paid (either in person, over the phone, or with the purchase of a gift card from our website) before an event can be confirmed.

Food and drink provided by The VU are permitted in the screening room. Outside food and drink is allowable under certain circumstances on a case-by-case basis, and may carry additional fees. Availability of certain items at certain times may be limited based on a variety of factors. Please include food and drink requests in any booking inquiry for more information.

The standard seating capacity for the screening room is twenty-two (22). Changes to that capacity (both increasing and decreasing) are possible based on the nature of the event, the date and/or time slot being booked, and other mitigating factors.

The VU requires adult, parent. and/or guardian supervision for all events where minors are in attendance. Please be aware that events are not staffed by VU employees, and that the health and safety of event attendees is something we take very seriously. Restrictions based on age, room capacity, allergen notification, and event duration may be necessary. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

No two events are the same, and we do our best to accommodate booking requests of all kinds. Please include as much information as possible when making booking inquiries.


Deposits for Events (Transferable/Non-Refundable):

– $25 (for events booked during store hours)
– $50 (for events that take place outside of store hours)
– No deposit is required for bookings made by active media subscribers or for events with fewer than five people during store hours

Hourly Charge:
– During store operating hours – $30/hr
– After store operating hours – $50/hr

Charges for all other event-related goods and services are handled separately.
